Let's cut through the Noise
Where do muslims get information about Islam from? Is it just the Quran? No
This weeks article was meant to be part 3 of the story of Jesus (as) but unfortunately it’s still in draft. Instead, we wrote a concise yet important piece. We will discuss Islam in short, the revelation, culture and politics.
Islam and Strict Monotheism
Islam is an Abrahamic religion that continues the original primary message of Strict Monotheism preached since Adam (as) through to Muhammed (pbuh).
All prophets called their people to Strict Monotheism (believe in God alone without associating partners). Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) was no different and came 600 years after prophet Jesus (as) preaching the same message of Strict Monotheism.
Prophets came with revelation that had specific rulings or laws relevant for the nation or PEOPLE that lived around that time. Each prophet simply received what was necessary for the community in which he was sent to, as decreed by God.
The prophets called to Strict Monotheism but over time scriptures became tampered, changed and updated by the people as a form of transgression against the rules, except for the Quran. The Quran remained in its original preserved form as revealed in Arabic and this will continue as it’s a promise by God.
The Quran is different in it being for all Mankind (everyone and not a specific group, nation or community e.g Its not just for the Arabs in Saudi or the Muslims that lived at the time of Prophet Muhammed pbuh). This is specifically mentioned in the Quran on multiple occasions.
What are the sources of Revelation in Islam?
( Where do Muslims get their Islamic knowledge about rulings, belief system, treating others, manners, business interactions etc.)
The Quran AND Sunnah
What is the Quran?
The Quran is the Verbatim (EXACT) word of God transmitted through Angel Jebril to Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). The Quran was revealed in Arabic by piecemeal (bit by bit) over a period of approximately 23 years. The way the Quran was revealed is very intriguing, many verses were revealed as a result of events happening around the prophet or questions asked by the people about certain aspects of the religion.
The Quran is NOT the word of man. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) was chosen to deliver this message and Muslims do not worship him.
Contrary to common belief, the Quran is not just about rulings, you find many topics, with reflection or pondering about Life, death, Creation and God, a primary recurring theme.
What is the Sunnah?
The Sunnah is the way of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and includes practices, actions and rules represented through sayings (Hadith’s) of the prophet, maintained and authenticated through a chain of narrators. Everything he said, did and approved of was observed, followed and recorded by close family members and his companions which essentially makes up the Sunnah. God has ordered Muslims to obey God and the prophet.
The Sunnah leans more towards the practical application of the religion. The Sunnah clears ambiguities, makes things clearer in meaning and provides very intricate details. If we were to say the Qur’an has laid down the general rules and foundations for legislation and rulings, then the Sunnah details these rules, clarifies the foundations, and branches out.
As an example, the Quran orders Muslims to pray, the Sunnah has the method of prayer, exact movements, exact sayings, timing and preparation etc. These actions and details are described exactly as what the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) did and said and were recorded by companions and close family. The Sunnah contains a wealth of information, enough for the layman to learn and the scholar to dedicate their life to studying.
Islam, Culture and traditions
Practising Islam mixed in with incorrect Cultural practices still happens today in some misinformed communities. We have nothing against culture and traditions if it aligns with Islamic values and the way of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). As an Example, some cultures or families prevent women from seeking an education or knowledge which is a cultural or even tribal practise and not the way of the prophet. It’s very common to find the majority of a specific country or area incorrectly practice a certain action a certain way which may be due to the ignorance passed on from previous generations or elders. Some people still do things like their parents even if it’s originally not allowed in Islam. Basically, the elders ignorance gets passed on!
Politics and Islam
Nowadays, Islam mixed with politics is a hot topic online with many Islamic concepts become mis-represented or misunderstood, simply because ignorant and uneducated individuals are given the mic ! Let’s use our logic for a second here, The majority of Congress are Christians, do you learn about Christianity from congress members actions? probably NOT. Bibi says he’s Jewish, would you learn Judaism from his genocidal actions? probably NOT.
What we are trying to say, is simple… Unless you want to live in deception for the rest of your life, do not Mix Politics and Islam to make judgements about the religion. Political events and the media are obviously not going to portray Islam correctly, they can barely get the news right these days!
Remember 911 which many including us now consider it an inside job (check out Truth towers by Mathew Tower). The media hit autoplay on the event to falsely spread lies and eventually used that as an excuse to go to war with Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries which Bibi lowkey fuelled at the time!
What is correct and sound ?
Is to understand Islam from the Revelation, the Quran and Sunnah. Some information can be self-learnt or self-understood by yourself while others can’t. A scholarly interpretation may be needed as a reference point especially if following English Translations that lack context or pre-assumed knowledge. When in doubt, refer to well knowledgable and reputable Islamic scholars that have a sound belief system, know Arabic well and specialise in that area of the religion.
Who you shouldn’t follow to learn about Islam?
Youtubers, Influencers, recent reverts that haven’t studied much of the religion yet or anyone that doesn’t have the full picture. If the person is openly spreading misinformation or attacking other scholars or doing something that seems morally fishy than they likely aren’t the right one to listen to. If the person isn’t of good character than I wouldn’t recommend them regardless of their deep knowledge.
We say this loud and clear if you are sincere in your understanding, then learn from reputable, knowledgeable, sound scholars who have rigorously studied or thoroughly specialised in a specific area of the religion. If in doubt about a source, then your welcome to message us. If your looking to find something suitable to your personal views to make you feel good, then continue to believe the lies and live in deception.
Final Words
The purpose of this article isn’t to give Islam a nice looking beautiful image, rather it’s meant to get the readers mind ticking. Not everyone has to be a muslim but people should at least be able to differentiate what Islam is or isn’t without being influenced by false media outlets and ignorant individuals.
Misinformation is on the rise, with many things not regulated as they used to be. Nowadays, spotting a lie is harder with the probably of it getting worse with AI and the corrupt leadership! We want you to gain clarity about the religion rather than be deceived. We don’t need another 911, or genocide to trigger people’s desire to learn or understand Islam for what it is.

Nothing defines Islam in it’s pure correct meaning and understanding except for the revelation. Correct understanding of the revelation is a Test and honour from God, that some will never reach. Scholars are the best people to learn Islam from.
