The Miracles of Jesus (as) Part 2
Part 2 - The Miracles of Jesus (as) from an Islamic Perspective, sourced from Quran and Sunnah.
This is the second article we write about Prophet Jesus (as), check out Part 1 here. We have included Verses from the Quran to read the full interpretation if needed. We have attempted to convey detailed yet succinct facts. The text in italics is context or extra information. Feel free to contact us with Questions.
Strict Monotheism from Adam to Muhammed(pbut)
Again, we emphasise, ALL 25 prophets called to Strict Monotheism from Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, John, Jesus to Muhammed (pbut). Jesus (as) was no different and was sent to the Children of Israel (known as Israelites). Israel is another name for prophet Jacob (as) and they are descendants of prophet Abraham.
***Israel in the Quran is NOT modern day ISnotrael with random people from Europe and the world migrating to settle and ethnically cleanse Indigenous Palestinian’s, claiming land rights in which they have NO connection to, and building illegal settlements.
The Injeel (The Gospel)
Jesus (as) was given the Injeel known as the Gospel and taught people about the Angels, Previous Prophets, Last day, Heaven and Hell. Jesus also memorised the Torah (Originally given to Moses) and came to correct people’s understanding of it (Quran 3:48 and 3:50).
Miracles of Jesus (as)
Miracles are a sign for people to believe in strict Monotheism and the prophets teachings. Miracles are only possible by the will of God meaning the prophet is only a means in delivering the miracles. Each prophet’s miracles were most suitable for their time and people. The miracles of Jesus (as) were many and came when Medicine and knowledge of Physics were advancing. Below are the miracles of Jesus from the Quran:
Miraculous birth from Virgin Mother without a father (Quran 3:45)
Spoke to the people in the Cradle to defend his mother and affirm his role as a Prophet of God who is given the Injeel (Quran 3:46).
Healed the Leper (person with viral skin disease) and Blind by Touching. This was significant since medicine was at a peak at the time, with some illnesses being incurable (Quran 3:49).
Created bird from clay, breathed/blew into it, and it became alive by the will of God. Magic was popular at the time, so people knew this was impossible to be achieved by magic (Quran 3:49).
A laid table-spread of Food from the sky where many ate yet food wasn't depleted. This miracle happened when the children of Israel specifically asked Jesus to send down a table of food as they wanted to eat something not on Earth after they had fasted for 30 days, to be a sign for them to believe. Jesus said, I am worried that this miracle may make you ungrateful towards God and you may still not believe. They insisted, so Jesus prayed and asked God to help him and then a spread of food came down. Jesus told them to eat, but they were scared, so Jesus offered the poor and other believers ate. This food was the tastiest and also cured illnesses.
Prophesied what people will eat and what they stored in their homes. The people mocked Jesus (as) and said if your a prophet then tells us what we have stored in our homes. Jesus used to tell them the food that they will eat and what they had stored (Quran 3:49).
Brought the dead back to life by the will of God (Quran 3:49). One day Jesus found a lady crying near a grave, he asked about the reason, she said my beloved daughter died, so I promised not to leave her grave till I die. Jesus said to the lady, If I was to bring your daughter back will you believe? she said yes. So he said - come out of your grave 3x times and then the girl came out, with white hair, no eyebrows and frightened. Jesus (as) asked her, what took so long? She said after the first call, God brought back my physical body. After the second call, an angel came to me. On the third call, my soul came back, I stood up, thought the day of judgement had come and my hair turned grey out of fear. Her mother became scared but then happy. The girl told her mother to be patient and said - do you want me to die twice? The girl asked Prophet Jesus to Pray for her that God ease’s the adversities of death and then she returned to her grave .
Learnt the Injel known as “Wisdom” or Gospel and memorised the Torah that was originally given to Moses (Q 3:48). Jesus confirmed and corrected peoples understanding of the Torah (given to Moses), as people had changed its sayings, interpretations and mixed truth and falsehood. The scholars of the time felt challenged, threatened and worried by Jesus’s accurate understanding of the Torah, despite him never attending any lessons or learning from them. As a result, Scholars publicly accused Jesus of doing magic, as a plan to eventually openly call for his killing, they justified this ruling by saying magic wasn’t allowed (Quran 3:50).
Jesus also informed the people of the coming of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). Jesus (as) told people about the prophet after him named Ahmed (another name for Prophet Muhammed) and described the prophet to them as unlettered, born in Makkah and of Arab descendants. Jesus also told them the time in which he will come and spoke about the prophets companions.

A Side Note about the Children of Israel
The Children of Israel have a known reputation for defiance, disbelief, and demand of miracles. For example in the case of Moses, they shamefully asked to see God himself in which a thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Many also killed messengers, tampered scriptures to suit their desires. Even obvious and great miracles like the ones brought by Jesus (as) wasn’t enough for some to believe.
Conclusion to the Story
After all these miracles some believed and many disbelieved. In fact many mocked and accused Jesus’s mother Virgin Mary of fornication. This is the end of the story for part 2, we will release the last article number 3 talking about the crucifixion that didn’t happen to Jesus (as) and predictions about Jesus coming back to Earth at the end of times.
Islam and Strict Monotheism
Islam strongly Rejects the Trinity, which goes against the core belief of Strict Monotheism.
The concept of God In Islam
God is One, Unique, Self Sustaining. God has no spouse or child; He has no peer or equal. Rather He is independent of all of that in and of Himself, may He be glorified. God is the only one worthy of worship. God is the maker, the creator of the Heavens and the Earth.
*** In Islam, Jesus (as) is not considered a son, father or spirit. The Messiah Jesus son of Mary is no more than a Messenger with a message that aligns continues the rest of the prophets message.
What do Muslims believe about the Gospel ?
Muslims believe that God the Lord of the Worlds, revealed a Book to His Prophet Jesus/ Essa (as) known as the Gospel (Injil in Arabic). Muslims also believe that, apart from the Quran, no book remained in its original form as it was revealed by God, neither the Gospel nor anything else.
As Muslims we believe the original Gospel has been tampered and changed. Many Western sources also bring doubts about its authorship.
Quoted from Muhaaraat fi’l-Nasraaniyyah by Shaykh Muhammad Abu Zahrah.
“It is strange indeed that they cast aspersions on the authorship of this Gospel which they affirm was written especially to support this falsehood, the false belief in the divinity of the Messiah, which is ignored in the other gospels, until this gospel was written, at the least. Yoosuf al-Khoori says: John wrote his Gospel at the end of his life, at the request of the bishops of Asia and elsewhere. The reason for that is that there were sects that denied the divinity of the Messiah, so they asked him to prove it, and to highlight that which Matthew, Mark and Luke had neglected in their Gospels”.(op.cit., p. 64)
The use of “son of God” has been metaphorically referred to many other prophets as being righteous servants of God rather than the literal meaning of an offspring in the Gospel.
There are four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Christians agreed that Luke and Mark did not see the Messiah (as), rather he was seen by Matthew and John. The four Gospels were most likely written by these men after the Messiah had been taken up into heaven (via Islam QA)

A final note - Our Words
If you sincerely consider yourself a true follower of Jesus, then you owe it to yourself to be objective and learn the truth about his actual message. We don’t believe you should be deceived into believing false ideologies in which Jesus himself did not say, do or call his people to. We don’t mean to disrespect other religions, though this serves as a reminder to reflect.
